Dr. William (Bill) Walter Potter, III Dr. William (Bill) Walter Potter, III, of Jasper, Georgia, formerly of State College, passed Monday, April 3, 2006, in Atlanta, Georgia. He served in the United States Navy from 1953-1957 as an navigator on submarines. He earned his bachelor degree from the University of Tennessee and graduated from U.T. Medical School in 1962. He did his internship and residency at Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia. Not only was he known as an excellent surgeon but his woodworking artist talents were nothing short of genius as witnessed by his model airplanes, model ships, home furniture, keepsake boxes, miniature doll house furniture and even a bus to RV conversion. His Tennessee Orange RV Bus and the many trips to Penn State Football Games both home and away will fondly be remembered by all of his close friends here in State College. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on April 8, 2006, at the Cagles Funeral Home in Jasper, Georgia. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Maternity Department C/O Foundation at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College.

Dear Allen and Siblings,

I just found out about your father's death! I am sorry to hear of it.

As a 1972 classmate of Allen's, I have MANY fond memories of him and the Potter clan while in State College.

I pray for God's comfort as you mourn his loss.

God bless you all!

We are so sorry for your loss. Dr. Potter delivered all of our children. We got to know him well. When he left for Tennessee, he made me a beautiful wooden box with a bleeding rose inlaid on the top of it. I will (and have always) cherish it for the rest of my life. We visited him and his family several times in Tennessee after they moved and were always treated like family when we were at his home. He was very special to us. We are praying for all of you at this sad time.

I extend my sincerest sympathies to Dr. Potter's entire family. I worked for Dr. Potter in his State College office during the early 80s. I think back often to the times of laughter and the wonderful lunches he would provide for his staff. I remember his strawberries planted along his driveway. He certainly left a lasting impression on me and I feel priviledged to have known him. May you find comfort knowing that he loved life and so many loved him. God Speed.
