Clara Johnson Obituary

Clara Jean Johnson was called home November 6,2024. She born Clare Jean Luster in Little Rock, Arkansas on September 2,1945. Clara was born to the union of Alfred and Mary Luster. She was the youngest of 16 children. Her family home was filled with love, strong faith and family connections. Clara would take the lessons of love and support with her when she went off to college and earned her Associate degree. Clare was blessed with two daughters, Devonne "Mickey" Luster and Denitra" Fuzzy" Renee Luster. She would later meet the love of her life, Augustus "Gus" Johnson Sr. They wed in a simple ceremony in 1975 and remained married until his passing. Clara and Gus was blessed to have a loving blended family, now including her bonus son Shelvin Johnson. After relocating to Urbana, Illinois, they would be blessed with their own son, Augustus "Derrelle" Johnson. Clara had many talents, she was a skilled beautician, soulful cook and a business owner. Clara's skill as a beautician would bless many people and family members throughout her life. As a salon owner, she ran a successful business out of the home, with the salon her husband had built to make her dreams come true. Clara was a devoted member of Morning Star Freewill Baptist Church. Having accepted Christ at a young age she always held true to her faith and passed her love of Christ to her children. She served on the usher board, as kitchen cook and later as a Mother of the church. She leaves to cherish her memories. 3 Children Devonne Luster (Michigan) Denitra Luster (Illinois) Derrelle Johnson (Illinois) 11 Grand Children: Caleeia Luster, Marcellus Hassen, Devonne Luster, Minnie Richardson(deceased), Alexis Edwards, Antonio Johnson, Infinity Johnson, Andreia Johnson, Clara Johnson, Ariyah Johnson, Kiona Perry. 3 great-grandchildren:Marcelliyah, Malayah, Jaiavi, along with host of nieces, nephews and loved ones. She was proceeded in death by her husband Augustus Johnson, her step-son Shelvin Johnson, a granddaughter Minnie Richardson, both her parents and all of her siblings. Bible verses Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Pallbearers: Antonio Luster, Lennie Strader, Clifford Luster, Marcellus Hassen, Naytwane Adams Flower Girls: Alexis Edwards, Infinity Johnson, Devonne Luster, Caleeia Luster Acknowledgement of Cards and Poem: Devonne "Zoe" Luster. Celebration of life will commence at 12:00 Noon November 21, 2024 at Morning Star Free Will Baptist Church 1402 W Eads St. Urbana, IL 61801. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Interment: Lincoln Cemetery.
