Clarence Jackson Obituary

Clarence Jackson, age 86, was born on July 29, 1939, to Fred and Lottie Mae Jackson. He was the sixth of seven children and grew up in a loving family that instilled in him the values of hard work and dedication. Clarence attended Mound Bayou Grammar School and later graduated from Philander Smith College in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. He dedicated 30 years of his life to working at Firestone in Decatur, where he made lasting friendships and contributed to the community. Beyond his professional life, Clarence had a passion for sports, particularly baseball, and played in a senior league. He also enjoyed bowling and was a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Clarence leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his children: Sherry (Curtis) Powell, Jennie (Pete) Thomas, Sandra Powell, LaTonja Taylor Green, Clarence Hood, Danny Williams, and Shayla Hood; his brother Robert L. Jackson Sr.; his sisters Jennie Carman and Verma Taylor; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will remember him fondly. On August 31, 2025, Clarence went home to Glory, where he was met by his beloved relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Corey Blake Jackson, and his brothers Roy Smith, Early Smith, and Fred Douglas Jackson.
