Keyaun Schmitt Hardimon

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend, Keyaun Quanell Schmitt Hardimon, who left this world on October 1, 2025, at the tender age of 15. Born on November 7, 2009, in Peoria, Illinois, Keyaun was a vibrant soul whose laughter and spirit filled every room he entered. A proud student at Richwoods High School, Keyaun was passionate about sports, excelling in basketball and football, and finding joy in swimming and fishing. Not only did he enjoy sports but he was a jokester, always ready with a playful quip or a mischievous prank, leaving a trail of laughter in his wherever he went. His love for video games was matched only by his deep appreciation for music, often sharing his favorite songs with friends and family, creating a soundtrack to their lives together. Keyaun had a protective spirit; he looked out for those around him, always ensuring that his loved ones felt safe and cared for. He had a unique way of wrapping up conversations with a heartfelt "Love Tho," a phrase that now echoes in the hearts of all who knew him. He is survived by his loving parents, Leonard Schmitt and Kenyuanna Hardimon; his siblings, Armani, Kanye, and Kang Schmitt of Peoria, and Zaria Schmitt of Blytheville, Arkansas; his special brother, Tyree Bernett; and his devoted girlfriend, Doneca Gentles. He also leaves behind his cherished maternal grandparents, Sandra Hardimon and Ezell (Rosetta) Hardimon, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts. He was welcomed into the gates of heaven by his paternal grandparents, Dennis Schere and Ann Logan Scherer.
