Emma Lesesne Obituary

Emma Lucille Larsen Lesesne MT. PLEASANT - Mrs. Emma Lucille Larsen Lesesne, wife of the late Thomas Petigru Lesesne, Jr., died Sunday, June 10, 2012. Mrs. Lesesne was born on October 18, 1911 in Adams Run, S.C., daughter of the late Anna Caroline Nielson and Andrew Peter Larsen and celebrated her 100th birthday in October, 2011. She was raised on Daniel Island and was taken by ferry to attend school in Charleston. She was a devoted member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Columbia, where she resided for many years where she served on the Altar Guild until she moved to Mount Pleasant in 1996 and became a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Jonquil Garden Club in Columbia and an honorary member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy since her parents did not come to the United States until after the end of the war. She was a faithful volunteer to the Red Cross Blood Bank in Columbia and was proud to boast of her husband and her sons being a member of the Red Cross Gallon Club. She is survived by her sons, Captain Henry Deas Lesesne, USN Retired, and his wife Linda, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, Lt. Col. Eugene F. Lesesne, and his wife, Anne, of Mount Pleasant, and her daughter-in-law, Doris Lesesne, of Mount Pleasant, wife of her oldest son, Thomas Petigru Lesesne, III, deceased. She is survived by her Grandchildren, Thomas Petigru Lesesne, IV, and Caroline Clary Lesesne, of Mount Pleasant, Elizabeth Lesesne Miller and her husband, Dan of Ponte Vedra Beach, Lisa Karen Lesesne, of Ponte Vedra Beach, and Victoria Lesesne Daniele and her husband, Anthony, of St. Petersburg, Florida, Angela Lesesne Clark and her husband, Joey, of Charleston, and Jessica Lesesne Martin and her husband, Jeff of Mount Pleasant and Great Grandchildren, Jennifer, Lindsay and Taylor Miller, Celeste and Haley Daniele, and Nicholas Lesesne, Larsen, Kristen and Sara Beth Clark, and Rachael and Corey Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Petigru Lesesne, Jr. and her son, Thomas Petigru Lesesne, III, her sisters, Caroline Larsen Carter, Julia Larsen Patterson and Anne Larsen Pinckney. The family wishes to thank and honor the devoted staff of Sandpiper Rehab and Retirement Home for the caring and love shown to her during her stay at Sandpiper and recent illness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Water Missions International, P. O. Box 31258, Charleston, S. C. 29417. So sorry for your loss. What a wonderful family she raised. I had not realized she was born in Adams Run. I didn't get there until I was 10 days old! Did know she lived in Oak Lawn area of Columbia near my late in-laws the Bonner Baxters.
