Joseph Forsberg Obituary

Joseph Lawrence Forsberg CHARLESTON - Joseph Lawrence Forsberg, lovingly referred to by his family as "Joefis," passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025. He was 38 years old. Joseph was born on "Demcember the one" 1986, as the second child to Joseph Lloyd Forsberg and Virginia Dodds Forsberg. He was a beloved son, loving brother to his sister, Kerri, nephew, cousin and friend whose kindness and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. Some of Gin and Joe's most cherished memories of their boy were days spent watching him flourish in sports. Joseph excelled on the baseball diamond, the football field, the basketball court and the golf course. He was his dad's right-hand man and business partner, growing the family business to what it is today. He became the face of Forsberg's Wine and Spirits, where he was a welcoming friend to all. Joseph will be remembered the most for his warm heart, his quick wit and his deep love for his family and friends. Blessed with the legendary Forsberg sense of humor, he had a gift for making others laugh, feel welcomed and valued, and his personality brought joy to everyone who knew him. Anytime someone would tell Joseph it was good to see him, he always responded, "It's good to be seen." Joseph's life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his adoring parents, Joseph Lloyd Forsberg, Virginia Dodds Forsberg, his loving sister, Kerri Forsberg, and his cherished bulldog Dobbsy. His aunts and uncles: Edward C. Forsberg "Ned" (Carol), Carl A. Forsberg (Pat), J. Eric Forsberg (Renie), Lawrence A Dodds, Jr. "Larry" (Holly), Diane Dodds Levesque, Suzy Dodds Kuppens (Mark), Sally Dodds Collins (Nick), Gerald J. Dodds (Donna), many beloved cousins, and a host of extended family and friends who will cherish his memory forever. He is predeceased by his grandparents: Edward C. Forsberg, Helen Weatherford Forsberg, Lawrence A. Dodds, Mildred White Dodds, and his aunt, Judy M. Dodds. The Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at Church of the Nativity Catholic Church, 1061 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412, 11:30 AM, Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate the life of Joseph at a reception following the funeral mass at Nativity Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to James Island Charter High School Booster Club, Inc. (https://linktr.ee/jichstrojanclub), 728 Schaffer Street Charleston, SC 29412. I´m so sorry for your loss. I would always say "happy birthday Joseph" on December 1, never forgot his birthday. He was so much a part of our family for the younger years and I will always remember him as the sweet mischievous boy that would come over early before school for pancakes. My heart is breaking, especially for you all. May the lord lift you up during this dark and painful time.
