Walter Cohen Obituary

Walter Cohen, Jr. ROUND O, SC - Walter Cohen, Jr., 70, of Round O, South Carolina, and a former resident of Johns Island, South Carolina passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021. Family and friends are invited to attend his graveside service at Bethlehem St. James United Methodist Church, 2419 Bohicket Road, Johns Island, SC on Saturday, October 9 at 2:00 p.m. His body will lie in state until the hour of service. The family requests all in attendance to wear a mask. Walter Cohen Jr, was born to the late Walter, Sr. and Beatrice Cohen of Johns Island, South Carolina. One brother, Anthony Bernard Cohen, Sr., preceded him in death. Walter graduated from Haut Gap High School in 1969. After high school, he attended Trident Technical College, where he received a certificate in Pipe Fitting. He later joined the US. Navy where he served for four years as an ACR Machinist. In addition, Walter served 30 years in the US Air Force Reserve and retired as a Master Sergeant in 2005. He was employed at the Charleston Naval Shipyard for 25 1/2 years and later finished his employment with Metal Trades Shipyard in Hollywood, SC, where he worked until he retired. Walter is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debbie Lee Jones Cohen; his five children: Athena M. Jones, Bernadette L. Ford Lattimore (Alex); Lucretia M. Cohen, Jason D. Cohen, and Walter D. Cohen (Jacqueline); eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his siblings: Elaine C. Felder, Elliott Cohen (Debra), Patricia A. Cohen, and Dwight D. Cohen (Thelma); his five in-laws: Charles Trammell, Karen Bruce, Trina Trammell, Terrence Trammell (April), and Keiva Trammell; a special granddaughter, Aubrielle D. Nettles; a special nephew, Ezell Trammell, III; nieces, nephews and a host of cousins. Funeral arrangements by Harold Frazier Mortuary, 300 Francis Street, Walterboro, SC.
