Allen Painter Obituary

Allen Hall Painter
FOREST CITY -- Mr. Allen Hall Painter, age 96, of 197 Fairview Street, died October 10, 2003 in an Asheville Hospital.
He was a native of Mecklenburg County, the son of the late Latta Hall Painter and Lula Bumgardner Painter, a retired savings and loan executive and a resident of Rutherford County since 1927.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Forest City, serving as a deacon for more than sixty years and in other capacities.
A member of the Forest City Lions Club for over sixty years, he served as a president and in other club offices and was a recipient of the Lion of the Year award and was a Melvin Jones fellow.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Orr Painter. Survivors include daughter, Stephany P. Alphin of Winston-Salem; sons, Allen Hall Painter, Jr. of Wilmington and Thomas Ladd Painter of Asheville; sisters, Eula P. Ferguson and Martha P. Garris, Charlotte; brother, Edward D. Painter of Ocala, Florida; five grandsons and four great grandsons.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14 at the First Baptist Church of Forest City. Dr. Barry K. Keys and Rev. J. Anthony Spencer will officiate. The family will receive visitors in the church parlor during the hour preceding the service.
Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 211 West Main Street, Forest City, NC 28043 or to a charity of one's choice. The Padgett and King Mortuary is in charge.
