Andrew Gross Obituary
Mr. Gross, of Charlotte, NC, law school graduate, financial planner, accomplished artist, musician, a loving husband, brother, son, uncle, friend and a confidant to many passed away February 8, 2009. He was preceded in death by his loving father Col. Andrew George Gross.
Survivors include his devoted and loving wife Elif Batur-Gross, father-in-law Zubeyir Batur, and mother-in-law Tulin Batur, and loving lifelong friend and pet, Carlos the German-Shepherd. Mother Sharon A Cook and Dr. Charles H. Cook, fond sisters, Marissa A Gross (Erick Oneal), Elizabeth Cook-Suver, and brothers MSGT Matthew F. Gross (Raenee Gross), Dr. Charles H. Cook (Allison Cook), John C. Cook (Cheri Cook), and 6 nieces and nephews (Charles, Evan, Kay, Lainey, Luke, Leyton), also survive him.
Receiving and visitation will occur from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 12th, 2009 at Heritage Funeral Home, Weddington Chapel, 3700 Forest Lawn Drive, Matthews, NC 28104. Funeral Services will be held at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Rd., Charlotte, NC 28211. Reception to follow in fellowship hall, and all are welcome to attend.

Dear Elif and family, Diane and I are so sad for all of those who loved and knew Andy, he was such a bright light in all of your hearts. Your love for him always touched us deeply in the way your parents or you would speak about him; we became both fan and admirer of a wonderful young man with so much to offer the world. Now I don't know how you go on but the human heart and the love that God brings to families to find the strength to deal with such times some how brings us all back. With life there is always the reality that it is not ours forever so those wonderful moments that spark our hearts become the legacy to remember - and clearly in Andy there were so many of those moments. We pray for him and the family, we shall cherish his memory and we hope that you will find in his peace a small measure about how wonderful the world was because Andy was here and how his memory and deeds now have made us all a little better. God bless you dear Elif, and may He enjoy now the company of a wonderful person.

To the Gross family,
I can't even begin to express how saddened I am at the news of Andy's death. It doesn't seem like it could be real - Andy loved and was loved by so many. He will always hold a special place in my heart - I dusted off my box of HS memorabilia and even though he's gone, he brought a smile to my face. A memory I will never forget are the special hugs that we exchanged. I can't remember starting a day of school without one. He was like a second brother and I will never forget how special he made me feel.

Ellen, it has been a long time since I spoke or seen you and Andy, but I have very fond memories of the time we all spent together, and I want you to know that you and your family are in my prayers..
