Anthony Vellucci Obituary

Anthony Paul Vellucci
'Tony'
Mr. Vellucci, 70, passed away early Saturday morning, January 20, 2007.
Tony's life will be celebrated at St. Gabriel Catholic Church on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 1 o'clock in the afternoon in the main sanctuary, 3016 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28211.
Tony was born Antonio Paulo Pompeyo Graciano Vellucci y Vita in Barahona, Dominican Republic, on July 27, 1936 and immigrated to America when he was 13 years old, after the death of his father, Julio Maximo Vellucci. He spent the remainder of his boyhood in Providence, Rhode Island with his mother, America Vita Vellucci. He graduated there from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). After service to the military, Tony lived in New Jersey for six years where he was married to Margret Steinert and had two daughters, Sabine Vellucci and Christina Vellucci, all of whom survive him. Tony and Margret moved to Charlotte, NC in 1971.
Tony was an extremely dedicated family man and always said that his biggest success was a close knit family. He also found a true passion in his 45-year career in textile chemicals. He found great joy in creating new products and interacting with clients, many of whom became friends.
In addition to his wife and daughters, Tony is also survived by his brother, Tomas Vellucci, and sisters-in-law, Madeline Vellucci and Virginia Vellucci. Also, he is survived by his son-in-law, Dennis McDonald, and his grandchildren, Andreas Anthony V. McDonald and Adelaide Joan V. McDonald.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Gabriel Catholic Church's preschool program, The Cradle, 3016 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28211, phone 704-364-5431.
Harry and Bryant Company is serving the family of Mr. Vellucci.

Dear Margret and Daughters,
Please accept our sincere deepest condolences - we understand your pain as we both went through this ourselves.
I met Tony first on business when I got transferred to the US in 1994. Over the years we became great personal friends and like family. Tony was the best business partner and was always on time. We had a business appointment on Friday January 19th and when Tony did not show up I had an uneasy feeling, especially when Margret picked up his business phone and told me he was in hospital.I will miss his business companionship and excellent service - he always professionally delivered what he promised.
On the personal side I will miss his wide knowledge of American and world history and affairs. We were never short of a subject to talk about. He always enjoyed good food and always picked a great bottle of wine to go with it.
We will miss him and his companionship greatly.

Dear Sabine and Family--

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I regret that it's been many years since I've seen Mr. Vellucci, but I will always remember fondly our trip to Charlotte in college when we Smith girls went "home" with Bean to the INXS concert. The Velluccis made us feel so welcome, and you could tell how much Bean's dad and mom loved her. I'm happy for your whole family that Sabine had the chance to move to Charlotte so you could all have such quality time as a family these last couple of years. When I saw Sabine at Halloween, she spoke so positively about being around her family, and I'm sure that it will help all of you to be so close at this deeply sad time. I love you, Bean, and I wish you and your family as much peace and contentment as you can find at a time like this. We're here for you in Atlanta and in our hearts.

Love,

Cheryl and Eddy (and Lucas & Sam)

My sympathies to Margret and her daughters on their loss. Tony was a great personality and his observations on life were truly exceptional. He was the one that initiated me into the American way of life on my arrival in the States. I will never forget his kindness and his words of wisdom. Where ever he went, he left indelible glorious memories on those he met. He was an outstanding human being and will be remembered as such

Chris
and I can not put into words the sadness we feel at the loss of a great
friend. We were neighbors early on , friends and business associates for
many years. Time goes by too quickly to realize how deep a friendship
really goes. To you Margaret, Sabine, and Christina we extend our
sincere sympathy.

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of your wonderful father. Growing up on Lansdowne Road was full of great memories about your dad. I can still remember him pinching my cheeks everytime he told me hello. He will be sorely missed. Rick and I extend our deepest condolences during this very difficult time and may God continue to bless you and take care of you all in your time of sorrow.

I was so devastated to hear about the loss of Tony. I will greatly miss the conversations that we had about our family and business. I was amazed at Tony's knowledge on just about every subject we ever talked about. He was a very intelligent man.

Tony, you will be greatly missed.

Your neighbor and friend,
Kevin
