Dad worked 30 years as a long-distance truck driver, where he was known for his delightful personality and professionalism. He took a 10-year break from the road, to spend more time with the family at which time he worked as a mechanic. When we got older, he returned to road until retirement.
He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and watching westerns. He loved taking us on vacations to places he encountered during his time on the road. I recall our first trip to Orlando. My Dad had literally been on the road all night to get home from Florida. After a few hours of sleep, he woke with excitement and told us to get packed as we are going on vacation to Orlando. Next thing you know we were on the road heading to Orlando to see Mickey.
Dad was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and a kindhearted man. I am not just saying that because he was my Dad. I am summarizing all the heartfelt condolences received as well as memories and reflections shared.
I know my Dad will be missed by all who knew you.
