Betty Taylor Eudy

Betty Eudy Obituary

Betty Jean Taylor Eudy "Mom" CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Eudy, 84, of Charlotte, passed away at CMC, on December 27, 2012. Betty was born March 21, 1928, in Charlotte, to the late Paul Upshire Taylor and Eva Christine Hinson Taylor. Preceding Mrs. Eudy in death was her beloved husband, Robert Glenn Eudy. Betty and her family were members of Avondale Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon, interim Director of Christian Education and youth director. In her devotion to Avondale's youth, from 1970 - 1985, she guided Sunday morning and Sunday evening high school classes, spiritual retreats and special events with compassion and clarity. Betty's personal enthusiasm for sharing profound Biblical truth was always evident as she inspired, encouraged and mentored a generation of Avondale's youth. Throughout her years, she continued to offer motherly wisdom to those of all ages. On Saturday, January 5, a graveside service will be held at 1:00p.m. at Sharon Memorial Park. A celebration of her life will then occur at 2:00p.m. at Avondale Presbyterian Church, with Dr. John Earl officiating. A reception will follow at the Church. She is survived by her beloved caretakers Susan Morse and Sherry Raines of Charlotte, as well as a vast church family who will always regard her dearly as "Mom." In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Avondale Presbyterian Church Facilities Fund, 2821 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209. Arrangements are in the care of Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service.

Betty Eudy was a faithful witness to the inclusive love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Her way of life touched so many lives at Avondale. Her ministry there was a blessing to everyone. It was a blessing for me to have served with her when I was an Associate Minister many years ago. Her memories still enrich my life.

Mom was a child of God, and shared her love and devotion with us all. I count Mom as a blessing in my life and share the earthly sorrow at her loss, but am comforted in knowing she has her reward.
