Blakeney Clark Obituary

Blakeney Campbell Clark GREENSBORO - Blakeney Campbell Clark, 93, died Sunday, July 5, 2015, in Greensboro, of complications from Alzheimer's disease. Son of the late Dr. Frank E. Clark and Ava Clark, he was born on January 21, 1922, in Grundy, VA, and lived the later years of his youth in Abingdon, VA. Following service in the U.S. Army during World War II, he resided in Greensboro since 1947. Mr. Clark is survived by his wife, Nancy Hamel Clark, and two children, Ann Blakeney Clark, of Charlotte, and James Hamel Clark and his wife, Mary, of Nashville, TN. A son, Blake, Jr., died in 1964. He has two surviving sisters, Ava C. Spencer, of Davidson, and Eloise E. Clark, of Asheville. He was predeceased by sisters Caroline C. Stuart, Katherine Kennedy Clark, and Margaret C. Tiffany, and his brother, Frank Clark. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 3506 Lawndale Drive, in Greensboro. The Reverend Milton Williams will officiate the service. Burial will be in the church Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends in the Parish Hall after the service. The family expresses its deep gratitude to the staff of Friends Homes at Guilford for their skillful and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Francis Church Memorial Garden or the Friends Homes at Guilford Resident Assistance Fund.
