Caldonia Davis Obituary

Caldonia Dyson Davis COLUMBIA - Graveside services for Mrs. Caldonia Dyson Davis, 97, will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Beaties Memorial Gardens, Charlotte, N.C., with burial to follow. Mrs. Davis died on Monday, January 27, 2014. Born in Madison, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Lucious and Cora Lowe Dyson. She was a graduate of Winston Salem Teachers College. She earned a Masters Degree and completed further study toward her doctoral degree from New York University. She was employed in the public schools of Petersburg, Va. and Charlotte, N.C. She taught at Johnson C. Smith and retired from Norfolk State University. Education was her life and she taught for over sixty years. Surviving are her children, Susan D. (James) Boyd of Columbia, S.C. and Dr. Hayward H. Davis (Deborah) of Suffolk, Va.; five grandchildren; three great- grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
