New York, New York - Carol June Whitesides,died in New York City, where she had lived since graduating from UNC-CH.She attended Myers Park HS in Charlotte where she grew up.She left for New York to become an actress but later became an attorney after graduating magna cum laude from Fordham University School of Law. She worked for Cravath,Swaine & Moore LLP and then Sidley Austin LLP until her illness.She left many loving friends and family who will miss her every day.The daughter of Harry and Helen Whitesides, Jr.,now deceased, those surviving are her daughter,Keira,her two loving sisters,Barbara Jean Whitesides and Linda Harris,her brother,Harry Whitesides, nieces,Hanna Whitesides and Laura Harris,nephews Garrett Whitesides and Matthew Harris.The family will have a private gathering to celebrate her life at a later time.Donations in her name can be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering, https://giving.mskcc.org/ ,Calvary Hospital,Brooklyn campus, https://fund.calvaryhospital.org/ways-to-give/memorial-and-tribute-gifts/ or the American Cancer Society, https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate.html

I studied with Carol at Fordham Law School. We worked together on Law Review, and in several classes. She was a terrific person. Warm, energetic and caring. After law school, we fell out of touch. I happened to search her name this evening , and am very, very sad to hear that she passed so young.

Carol and I were friends in school, and I'll never forget her genuine kindness and friendship. We used to skate together, and I always remember her every time I take my children skating.

I have many fond memories of Carol while roommates at UNC and when visiting NY during the summer. We watched a lot of movies and went to shows. I convinced her once to go to a NY nightclub. I lost track of her after I got married but am happy to hear she became a lawyer. I am very sorry to hear of her passing and wish her family well.
