Charles H. Olday
WEDDINGTON -- Mr. Olday, 69, formerly of the Buffalo, NY area, passed away suddenly on April 9, 2004.
Charles was the beloved husband of Frances J (Shoemaker), dearest father of Susan and Joel Ortiz of New Port Richey, FL, Douglas and Mary Ann Olday of Gasport, NY, and Matthew and Lisa Olday of Elmendorf AFB, AK, dear step-father of Wendy and Mark Vandermolen of Indian Trail, NC, Stacy and Stephen Mitrano of Indian Trail, NC, and Wesley and Jennifer Froebel of Kenmore, NY. He was a devoted grandfather of Brendon Gauchat, Joel Jr. and Jilliann Ortiz, all of New Port Richey, FL, Steven Olday of Gasport, NY, Jessica and Melissa Olday of Elmendorf AFB, AK, Kevin Vandermolen, and Katelyn and Nicholas Mitrano, all of Indian Trail, NC, and Stephanie Froebel of Kenmore, NY. Brother of Richard and Arlene Olday of Depew, NY. Dear son of the late Harold and Edith Olday and son-in-law of Jane E. and the late John R. Shoemaker of Kernersville, NC. Surviving Charles are brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, Sandra and Lee Hicks of Winston Salem, NC, Brenda and Jack Penzes of Diamond Bar, CA, Sharon and Paul Pitzonka of Riverside, CA, Karen and Robert Culler, Jean Jones, Beth and Rocky Chapman, of Kernersville, NC, John and Robin Shoemaker of Raleigh, NC and James Shoemaker, of Harvest, AL, numerous nieces, nephews, dear friends and golfing partners.
Funeral service in celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday from the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Home in Indian Trail. The family will receive friends this evening, Monday, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials in memory of Charles H. Olday's mother, Edith Olday, be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
Arrangements for the family are in the care of Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service, Matthews/Indian Trail.
