Christina Whitman Obituary
September 15, 1969 - June 20, 2025
Charlotte, North Carolina - Tina Whitman, 55 of Charlotte, NC peacefully passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, June 20, 2025.
Tina was born in Charlotte on September 15, 1969, the daughter of Kathy Hipp Smith and the late John Henderson Smith. In her youth, she was competitive and loved participating in sports, especially softball. Tina, being athletic, also enjoyed swimming and skiing. After graduating from Olympic High School in 1988, she attended Central Piedmont Community College. On April 17, 1990, Tina married her best friend, Scotty Whitman, and they were blessed with her greatest joy, Cole. Tina loved being a mom. She also delighted in cooking, gardening, making jewelry, listening to music, and most of all caring for animals, especially her beloved dogs of family and friends. Her family felt that she was a "dog whisperer". She will always be remembered for her great sense of humor and contagious laugh.
The family greatly appreciates all the love and concern they have received from so many wonderful friends. Special thanks to Dr. Fillmore and his team at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center NICU for their incredible, loving care of Tina in her last days. We are forever grateful for their kindness and support to our family.
A celebration of Tina's life will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Matthews United Methodist Church, 801 S Trade Street, Matthews, NC 28105 with Rev. David Christy officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 11-12 p.m.
Tina is survived by her mother, Kathy Smith; son, Robert Cole Whitman; brother, Sean Henderson Smith; nephew, Riley Henderson Smith; niece, Presslee Elizabeth Smith; dear friend, Robert Scott Whitman; Cole's sister, Sophia Grace Lee, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.

Tina (Farina as my mom called her) I will always remember having the BEST times with you as young teens. One sweet memory is when we got all dolled up with mini skirts and heels to go to Carowinds to see the GoGo´s and Cyndi Lauper. Your sweet heart and smile will never be forgotten.

Tina and I were very close friends and always loved her infectious smiles! We were on the same softball team with Starclaire for many years and she and I were inseparable until I moved my junior year of HS. We were always hanging out and either she was at my house or I was at hers. I will pray for peace for her family. God Bless you Tina and Fly High girlie!
