Claudia Chandler Obituary

Claudia Penelope
Coolik Chandler
Ms. Chandler, 55, of Charlotte, died Thursday, January 15, 2004 at Carolinas Medical Center, Pineville. A Charlottean she was the daughter of the late Sanford, Jr. and Ruby G. Chandler.
Claudia was an interior designer in Atlanta, seasonal decorator at City Fair and other uptown buildings, artist, photographer and floral arranger. She traveled extensively in the 1970's to the South and Central America, most of the Carribean Islands and many great cities of the US. Claudia had a very adventuresome life. She experienced much, and treasured making friends. An Angel who would befriend those, most Angels wouldn't. She would give the shirt off her back and helped many come to know Jesus and appreciate and see beauty in this world and the world of art. A most creative person who will be so missed by so many.

Survivors include daughter, Charlotte Ashley Coolik of Charlotte; sisters, Sandra Chandler of Santa Rosa, CA and Carol Scott of Springfield Gardens, NY; cousin, Cathy Cook and family of Charlotte; best friend, Donna Monroe of Charlotte and special friend, Robert Deal of Charlotte and many friends all over the world.
Carolina Funeral Service and Cremation Center is entrusted.

Ashley,

Though I only met you once and your mom a couple of times (through my sister, Robin), my heart goes out to you for your loss.

My brother in D.C. (who met her also) was surprised to spot Claudia (known as "Cloud" at that time) in a Sixties documentary film randomly chosen from a video store by Robin's daughter who was visiting him during college break at the time.

May God comfort you greatly and her memory always bring you joy. You and your family are remembered in my prayers.

Ashley,

I feel extremely lucky to have known your Mom. I wish I had gotten to know her better and she had been with us longer. I hope you know she's probably loving her "new life". You were the best daughter you could possibly be to her and please always remember that.

My wife and I didn't know Ms. Chandler very well, but every time we saw her, she showered us with love as if we had known each other forever. She was a sweet, kind woman, and we will certainly miss her.
