He was in his prime when giants walked the earth. He was one of those giants. His loss diminishes us all, but to quote Albert Camus, it was, "A Perfect Death".
My condolences and prayers to all.

My heart and prayers go out to the Sauer family during their time of great loss. My grandfather used to walk me over to the plant as I loved visiting with Connie as a child. The aroma's coming from the plant mezmarized me. I wanted to work for the company as I loved Connie, the aromas, and the kindness of the employees.
Rest in peace Mr. Connie (as I once called you). I hope you meet my grandfather in heaven and you two share many warm stories.Visiting my grandparents on West Grace Street during the 50's thru 60's was always a treat. When we were able to see Connie, it was delightful. He was the "spice of my childhood".

You'll never be forgotten and always loved for your generosity and support of your neighbors. Rest in peace, Mr. Connie. You'll be greatly missed.
