I just recently heard of the death of Mr. Hamrick. I remember him with fondness and appreciation. He was the principal of J.W. Cannon Jr. High School, my first teaching assignment in 1959-1961. I was fortunate in having such a wonderful mentor in this gentleman of great integrity and understanding, not to mention patience for a fledging teacher. My sympathy goes out to all his family.

Mrs. Hamrick,
I was sadden to learn of the passing of Coach Hamrick. He coached me in basketball and baseball at Landis in 1948-50. I was also in yours and his classes while at Landis. I remember you both very well and both of you have influenced my life. I left Landis in 1951 and finished High School at A.L. Brown in 1953. Coach Hamrick definitely made an impression on my life for the good. I am indebted to you both. May God comfort you and your family during this time of giref. He was a presence that deserved respect without question.

Dear Mrs. Hamrick and family,
Please accept our condolences for your loss. Mr. Hamrick was an important role model in my life, especially while playing as an interior lineman under his tutelage as my line coach at A.L. Brown High School. The fundamentals of football and life that he taught by example greatly assisted me in later years. I cannot tell you how much he will be missed by countless numbers of his former students and friends .
Please know that our love and prayers are with you during your bereavement.

Mrs. Hamrick and family:
We send our condolences. Coach Hamrick gave me a lot of opportunities in basketball and baseball, and was a great teacher and leader. He once caught me smoking and made me run several laps after practice. but I deserved it. Also he gave Nancy a teaching job at the JW Cannon Jr. HS. He will be missed. Sincerely,
Gene and Nancy Thompson

Dear Mrs. Hamrick and Family,
Your husband and father brought many wonderful years to KCS and to the students. He was my principal when I moved here from Florida and I was a page in the office. I will always cherish the times I had at Cannon. Thinking and keeping all of you in my prayers during this very difficult time.

My deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Mr. Dan Hamrick, I worked for Mr. Hamrick at J.W. Cannon, Jr. High and he was a great man as well as friend to me. He was so funny and great to work with, as the kids learned he was very serious about their education, but carried that through with such a sense of humor. He will be missed by all who loved and thought so much of him.

Dear Dr. Hamrick and family,
I was so sorry to read of your fathers death this morning in the paper. His obituary was such a moving, loving tribute to his life! The coming days will be difficult and your entire family will be in my prayers.
I miss you and the office "gang". I can truly say, of the dental offices I worked in, working at your office with you and your staff was certainly my favorite place!
I hope you and your family can find some comfort in the wonderful memories of your father.
Love and prayers,
Shelia Sammons

I have known Dan for 27+ years and have utmost respect for him and his family. There is not enough room on my computer to express all the fine attributes that I recognized. He treated me just like one of his family. We attended a lot of football games locally and at his favorite college team (UNC Tarheels. I ran dogs with him and against him. We were the best of friends until we put our dogs down. That's where the competition began. He was always competitive and strived for excellence in everthing he did. He also was a Class A cook. He cooked steaks for the entire AL Brown football before the Friday night games for several years. Later he enjoyed cooking at the Beagle Club.He was treasurer of the Beagle Club for longer than I can remember. Books were always in good shape and stood ready for audit at any time. I should also mention that he knew every good (or bad) eating place in a three county area. Dan will be missed by many friends and associates. Our prayers are with Mrs. Hamrick and family.

To Noah's family, you have my condolence and prayers. He and I were rival coaches in Rown County 1948-1954 Landis vs Granite Quarry.
Our record as I recall was one win in six years. He was a great coach and an even better man.
He was also a good Fellow Rutherford County friend. We were also rivals in high school, Ellenboro vs Sunshine. Best wishes.
