David Garbrick Obituary

David Allen Garbrick, 74, of Davidson, died August 18, 2018. He was born on September 21, 1943 in York, PA to the late Earl and Mary Garbrick.

Dave attended high school in Florida and graduated from Florida State. He served four years in the US Air Force. He worked for Prudential Insurance and Allstate Insurance. For 20 years he was a Group Insurance Consultant with Towers Perrin in Detroit, Atlanta, and then Charlotte. After retirement, his efforts were focused on his church. Among his many contributions, for years he was chairman of the Staff Parish Committee at Davidson United Methodist Church and he helped at Vacation Bible School. Dave sang in church choirs starting at age 14. At DUMC he was in the choir and sang with several other groups, including Outreach Singers who perform monthly at nursing homes. He loved his family and friends and prayed daily for them. Another favorite pastime has been playing tennis with his men's group at River Run.

Survivors include his wife Alice; sons Rob Van Epps and wife Natalie of Davidson and Mark Garbrick and wife Jennifer of Hillsborough; brother Murray Garbrick and wife Sarah of Orlando, FL; and grandchildren Kristin, Julia, Brooke, and Jonas. Dave and Alice recently celebrated their 45th anniversary.

The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home, Huntersville, from 5-7 PM Friday, August 24. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 25 at Davidson United Methodist Church. Burial will be private at Mimosa Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Davidson UMC General Fund, the Davidson UMC Music Fund, or the charity of your choice.
