David Tull Obituary

David Bethel Tull, 65, passed away Monday, August 28th, 2017. He was born July 6, 1952 in Durham, NC the son of the late Charles Watson Tull and Phyllis Brown Tull. David is survived by his sister, Sally Tull Burns and brother-in-law Ronald Spreull Burns of Santa Barbara; and brother Charles Christopher Tull and sister-in-law Molly Burton Tull of Charlotte, NC. David was predeceased by his oldest sister Frances Melanie Tull.

David grew up in Charlotte, attended The McCallie School in Chattanooga TN and graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in 1970. He graduated with a degree in Education from the University of South Carolina in 1974. David enjoyed membership in Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and was a lifelong Gamecocks fan.

He spent most of his adult working life in Real Estate development and Investments primarily with Tull Enterprises. His true passions in life were his friendships and being in nature - hunting and fishing. His prowess was evident by many awards and citations. A lifelong member of Ducks Unlimited, David was a man of the rivers and the sea, especially fond of the Outer Banks and South Carolina low country areas. His greatest treasures were his friends and helping others, particularly when he spent weeks helping Katrina victims distribute food and water.

The family wishes to thank the heroic efforts of the Doctors and Nurses of the Grand Strand Medical Center and especially Carol Rodbell and Jim Cornwell. Words are not adequate to convey our heartfelt gratitude at the acts of service, words of encouragement and powerful prayer that sustains us all.

A memorial service to celebrate David's life will be held at Christ Episcopal Church on Monday, September 11th at 11:00 am. The Church is located at 1412 Providence Road Charlotte, NC 28207.

The family asks in lieu of flowers, for those wishing to send memorial gifts to please consider Thompson Child and Family Focus, 6800 St. Peter's Lane, Matthews, NC 28105 or the American Red Cross of Western North Carolina, 2425 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28203 for Victims of Hurricane Harvey (Please designate the gift is in memory of David Tull).

Sally and Chris,

I was so sorry to read about David. He was so special to David Underwood and me, after we spent a month house sitting for your parents and high school senior David back in 1970. It was a month never to be forgotten - the best of which was our connecting with David.

I am grateful for those memories and send my thoughts and prayers to you.

Dear Sally, Chris and family, I was very saddened to hear of the loss of David. My best memories of him were when we were young - throwing the football in your backyard on Ferncliff and all of those special times together at your Garden City beach house during the summers. He was so cute and sweet! The Tull family has always been an important part of our lives. Now, so many of those times are treasured in our memories, and they are such good ones.
Know that you are close to my heart in this time of sorrow. Like your mom, dad, and Melanie - and those great times- I will miss them forever. Deepest sympathy and special love to each of you. Eloise DuBose Seegars ("Sugarlump")
