Denita
This will be my last enrty. It has been very difficult this year. I am still hurting but it is not as often. When I look at pictures of you and the family it brings back moments of happy memories. That bright smile that would light up a room. You was loved and will forever be missed. God loaned us an angel and then He took you back. While you were here you brought much joy and love to the lives that you touched.

Well Denita, We had our last graduation for this year. We tried to make Jalessa's day special, but it was different from yours and Jonathan. You were missed, but in a way we knew you was there. I am laughing a liitle more and I can even say it "You are gone". But I will never be the same again. I still cringe when my phone rings and I still ask "why".

Well, My Baby you received your Masters Degree on Saturday May 4. Or should I say Jonathan represented you. When your name was called, you received a standing ovation. It's just not right that you were not present to reap the fruits of your hard work.
We are going on day by day. I have to admit that it is difficult. This is just not the way it suppose to be. We all raised you to be good. And we took for granted that you would have been around so we could see the results of our work. But on the other hand maybe we did see the results. God took a sweet Angel back home.

Sharon,
I'm thinking of you as the family face these most difficult days. God promises to be with us always, that includes today. I love you all and remember the fun days we shared, you, Calvin, PeeWee,and I when Denita was just a baby. God Bless you. May you grow closer to God as you grow closer to one another.
Aunt Ann,

Well My Baby, It has been 2 months since that aweful day you left us and went on home to be with the Lord. We, your family and friends, are trying to move on with our lives. It is hard. You was such a jewel. Every since the evening God sent you into this world you brought joy into my life. It was indeed a pleasure to have been your Godmother. I hope that as you matured over the years I was of some inspration to you. You certainly was a blessing to me. I will never forget many of the moments of your childhood. You blossomed into such a beautiful young woman. Take your rest now and as I said before I was so proud of you. Thank you for the way you lived your life.

This is hard for everyone. I also attended West Charlotte with Denita and I have so many things that I can say about this beautiful spirit. Knowing the kind of person that she was and the spirit that she carried, I find peace in the fact that I can say without hesistation that "It Is Well With My Soul," for to abscent from the body is to be present with the Lord. To the family I offer my heart felt expressions of love and supoort and want to make it known to you that you did a great job bringing up such a wonderful young lady. A woman of God she was. She Is and She will forever will be. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all of thy ways acknowledge Him and He will stregnthen thine heart. Know that my family and I are praying for you and trusting that the Lord our God will in time will give peace to your broken hearts.
He only takes those that are ready. We thank God for DENITA BEING READY!!!!!!!

There is no one in this world who understand your loss. I had a son killed in the Navy and the words that I always heard and never believed were that " I know how you feel" not true. Circumstances of their deaths were different and so were our children different. However, the thing that we both share is the heartache of losing a child no matter what the circumstances are. We were blessed to have them loaned to us for a short while (My son was 19) but they left us with so much more than we had when they arrived. Bless you all because God chose you to nurture this wonderful child until he came back for her. Remember, he only take perfect ROSES> the rest are left to bloom.

To the Smith Family:
We do not know you all or your daughter. But, we are the parents of young adults who have furthered their education in graduate school and our hearts go out to you. We have been praying for you because we know that God is your source and He has given you all that you need to see you through this. We can only imagine the hurt you feel, but God knows first hand because He gave His only son (John 3:16). So, please know that many like us...people you do not even know and may never meet...are praying for you. God knows the hurt and He is our Jehovah Jireh and Jehovah Rophe.
We visited your church this past summer for the wedding of family friends (Glenetris & Derek Clyburn) and were so blessed by how your pastor carried out the ceremony. We are sure you all were just as blessed by the way God led him to officiate the celebration of your daughter, sister, grandchild, etc.
Again, our prayers are with you and remember...To God be the Glory for the great things He has done, so just count all your blessings!!
We know you have so many precious memories to cherish.

Smith Family,
I attended the funeral today even though I did not know your daughter, sister. I had only intended to stay and pay my respects and leave. I was very impressed with the service and the way in which you and your family stood as one and held it together as you had to do one of the hardest thing, which is saying goodbye to Denita. Your strength encouraged me, and I could tell with out a doubt that you all were at peace with the Lords' will. Although I know the pain was great you all were a blessing to me.
Denita was loved by so many and gave so much of herself to others. Just remember God is still in control and he NEVER makes a mistake. Thank you for allowing me to see your quiet strength and to attend a very up-lifting service in honor of Denita.
Jameer, continue to be stong and know that this too will pass. I know you are going to miss her but carry the memories of her with you and honor her and your love in all that you do. Be blessed and much love to you all.

To the Smith Family,
I would like to express my deepest sympathy to you at this time. Knowing Denita from Campus Connections, I can say that it was a honor and a privilege to be friends with such a wonderful young lady. I will cherish our days at NCCU for the rest of my life. She was a person who had a spirit that will never be forgotten, but sorely missed. My heart and my prayers go out to you, her family, at this time and for the days ahead.
Denita,
You will never know how much you mean to me and so many other people. You have touched the lives of so many that it makes it that much harder to say goodbye. I thought that we would be going back to NCCU to get our Master's degree's and then go on to achieve all the things that we talked about. Everything from graduating, careers, marriage and family. Now that seems it won't be able to happen. I can remember throughout the year that we took off after graduation, that we would talk about how you would and could go back to school. This is a conversation that I have been replaying in my head ever since you were stolen from us. I can remember telling you that you can do it Denita, you can find a way to make it work. It's hard to understand that now, after coming so close, those are dreams that I will never, as well as others, won't see you reach. I am trying to understand why now, and why you...and I CAN'T. This is something that I will think about, learn from, and grow from for years to come. You were and still are an inspiration to me and so many. Your smile is what will carry me through those moments of looking back on the memories that we created and shared. I want you to know that you will be missed and that I hope that the rest of us can make you proud. It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to say REST IN PEACE to a wonderful person, women, student, and most of all FRIEND. I love you and will never forget you.

It truly is hard to believe you are not here, after just talking with you not even two weeks ago on Christmas Eve. It was like we had'nt even missed a beat. I do count it a blessing that God would have allowed me one last time to talk to you, even after not talking with you in about 3 plus years. You were still that same crazy Denita I remember. I will forever cherish my final talk with you. I joked with you about cooking Christmas dinner, now I guess you are cooking for alot of people up in heaven. Manita & I both are in such a dis belief and shocked. Manita ask that you watch over and take care of Marquez & LaPrince Black our little angel's in heaven, until we meet again. Take your rest smiles for you have ran a good race. We love you.

To Denita, well done my good and faithful servant. May you forever rest in peace.

I do not know your family personally but I feel that I do. I was in your situation and until you take a walk in the other persons shoes no one can imagine. We have a person that sits on high and will take care of us all. Keep your love and faith and you can get through this.

To the Smith family. My prayers go out to you at this time of sorrow. I pray that as time goes on the heaviness in your hearts will start to get a little lighter. It's always a sad time when a loved one is taken from us, but remember God always has a plan and He is only a prayer away from us. Just lean on Him to help get you through this tough time.

Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. Remember the Lord is still in control and will take care of all of you. I cannot imagine what you the parents sister and brother must be going through. It was a tragedy, but in time the Lord will heal your wounds. I did not know your daughter but the articles in the paper and over the internet makes one want to know her. We know not the hour of the day our name will be call. Continue to trust in the Lord and He will see you through. All of you are in my prayers and just trust in the Lord for the many days to come. Keep Denita's memories going forever. Continue to hold on to God unchanging hands.

To the Smith Family:
Having known both Denita and Jameer from our days together marching with the NCCU Sound Machine, I was stunned to learn of her death. Once you become apart of that band, u gain brothers and sisters forever. I'm sure u'll hear plenty of wonderful things about Denita, but she was truly a blessing to me. I never met someone that always kept a smile on her face the way she did. I could never tell what was bothering her because she always kept it behind that smile. People like that are very rare. I'm truly sorry for which things happened to her. But know that she's smiling for God now and that you always have :US" (fellow eagles and friends)to call upon. May God bless you all.
Denita,
Someday we'll all meet again. I look forward to that day when I'll get to see you smile and even play that sax one more time. Things shouldn't have been this way for u but we all know God makes no mistakes. I remember when I prayed for you the other day and asked God for his help, he answered. we all miss you dearly, but we'll marched together soon. So "TILL WE MEET AGAIN", sleep on my sister and rest in peace.
