Dwight L. Klein
Mr. Klein passed away peacefully on November 7, 2009 in Matthews, N.C. at the age of 78. He was born on November 6, 1931 in Detroit, Mich., the only child born to the late Leonard and Viola Klein.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Laura Jeanne (Haines) Klein. He is survived by his three children and their spouses, son Greg Klein and wife Alesa, of Matthews, N.C., daughter Jan Grossman, and husband Paul of Midlothian, Va., and son Don Klein and wife Chris of Delray Beach, Fla. Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren, Travis Klein and Christopher Klein of Charlotte, N.C., Jared and Paige Grossman of Midlothian, Va., and Justin, Julia, and Grace Klein of Delray Beach, Fla.
He was a graduate of Montpelier High School and The International Business College. He made his home over the years in Fort Wayne, Ind., Gastonia, N.C., Marathon and Palm City, Fla., and most recently, Charlotte, N.C.
Dwight married his high school sweetheart, Laura, and over 56 years made a wonderful life together. He proudly served in the Marines from 1952 to 1954. He was an Accountant by trade who worked as a Comptroller for North American Van Lines for 20 years and Akers Motor Lines/Central Division as Secretary/Treasurer until his retirement.
He was a very proud father and grandfather who worked diligently to provide for his family. His love of model airplanes, boating and fishing, led to many great memories over the years. His long stories, sense of humor and dry wit will be missed greatly by all his friends and family.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Haven, and Carrington Place for the compassionate care that they provided over the past months.
The family will hold a private graveside service.
