Eddie Blanton

Eddie Carl Blanton CHARLOTTE - Eddie Carl Blanton, a native Charlottean, died Saturday, November 9, 2013. Eddie was a devoted son, father, brother and grandfather. He was born June 9, 1949, in Boone, NC, son of Ruth Combs Blanton and the late Boyd Blanton. Eddie graduated from University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1971 and was a member of Sigma Kappa Fraternity. Eddie loved everything about the outdoors. He loved camping, hiking, gardening and bird watching. He was a loyal follower of NASCAR and the Carolina Panthers. Surviving are his daughters Melissa Wilson and husband Matt and Kimberly Lucier and husband Mike, both of Charlotte, NC, and Kaylie Soule and husband Chris of Wilmington, NC. He had four grandchildren, Adrienne and Thomas Wilson and Avery and Tyson Lucier. Eddie is also survived by his mother, Ruth Blanton and sister, Pris McCrorie of Charlotte. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Thursday, November 14, 2013, at Amity Presbyterian Church on N. Sharon Amity Road. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the White Oak Manor Activity Department at 4009 Craig Avenue Charlotte, NC 28211.
