Ellen McMorrough Crawford

1940 - 2018

Ellen McMorrough Crawford, 78, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2018 after a courageous 22-year battle with breast cancer. She was born on February 8, 1940 in Houston, Mississippi, the daughter of Howard Douglas and Eileen Stubblefield McMorrough. She grew up in Aberdeen, Mississippi and graduated from Mississippi State College for Women. Ellen taught Home Economics and was a hospital dietician. She married John Dale Crawford of Clarksdale, MS in 1965 and raised a loving family during their 49 years of marriage.

Ellen was an active member in numerous groups within the United Methodist Church. She was known for her cooking, sewing, and quilting. She also enjoyed annual trips to the beach with her devoted family.

She is survived by her sons: John D. Crawford, Jr. (Kim) of Denver, Colorado; Daniel Crawford (Shelly) of Charlotte; and Andrew Crawford of North Charleston, South Carolina; granddaughters, Aubrey, Lily, and Elizabeth Crawford; and grandsons, Aidan and Benjamin Crawford. She is also survived by her brother, John Doyle McMorrough (Sue). She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Graveside services will be held 10am Saturday, July 21st at Evergreen Cemetery in Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
