I have fond memories of Elmyra and our high school days at Greensboro Senior High! As is often the case, school friends scatter and lose touch, but, thankfully, our wonderful reunions brought us back together. It was our great good fortune to see each other again and to see her happiness with old friends. I thought she looked so good in the pictures from the last reunion in May 2007 and I could tell she was so happy to be there! My heartfelt condolences go out to all of you who were blessed to have had her and her influence in your family lives. I am keeping all of you in my prayers and ask that God's love will surround and sustain you all. May you find comfort, sweetness, and joy in wonderful memories of such a great lady. What a pleasure it has been for me to get to know Mrs. Elmyra Sherrill. She is my son's great grandmother. She was gentle, kind and had the spirit of a true southern woman. She treated me with respect and love. I am honored to call her my family. How lucky we have been to have her in our lives. She will be missed.

It was my pleasure to first know Elmyra in sixth grade at Central Elementary and Junion High in Greensboro. We went on to graduate at GHS in 1947 and renewed our friendship through class reunions. What a joy it was to know her! My condolences to the family in your loss and my praise to Laurie for the wonderful care of her mom.
