Ethel Jane Gamble Harris

LANCASTER -- Mrs. Ethel Jane Gamble Harris, age 76, died Sunday morning, March 24, 2002 at Mercy South Hospital in Pineville, NC after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born March 30, 1925 in Mecklenburg County, NC, the daughter of the late Mr. James Wesley Gamble and Mrs. Sarah Bessie Massey Gamble and wife of the late Mr. Leonard Marion "L.M.' Harris. Mrs. Harris was a special Mother and Grandmother, she retired from McDonalds and was a lifetime member of the Lancaster Church of Christ.
Mrs. Harris survived by 2 sons, Mr. Marion "Butch' Harris and his wife Sue of Deatsville, Alabama and Mr. Joseph "Joe' Harris and his wife Cecil Joy of Lineville, Alabama; 5 daughters, Mrs. Sarah Harris Porter and her husband Horace of Lancaster, Mrs. Linda Harris Cloete and her husband Marius of Cape Town, South Africa, Mrs. Lenora Harris Anderson and her husband Dale of Lancaster, Mrs. Mary Harris Wilson and her husband Will of Waldorf, Maryland and Mrs. Gloria Harris Small and her husband Bruce of Lancaster; 3 brothers, Mr. John Gamble, Mr. Henry Gamble and his wife Margaret, and Mr. Donald Gamble and his wife Flonnie all of Lancaster; 2 sisters, Mrs. Maggie McAteer of Lancaster, and Mrs. Bessie Therrell of Indian Land; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Gaile Harris, one great-grandchild, Colton Miller Johnson, four brothers, Joe, Dan, Charlie and Robert Gamble, two sisters, Addie Gamble Williams and Jessie Gamble. The Funeral Service for Mrs. Harris will be 11:00 am, Wednesday morning, March 27, 2002 at the Lancaster Church of Christ by Minister Will Purvis, Minister Richard Harp and Minister Will Wilson. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
