Long after the details of so many good teachers in my life will have faded to the corners of my memories, Dolly Hickman's will still be with me. Her love of teaching, her respect for me and my intellect, the fact that she cared enough not to let me skate by on anything less than my best effort. These are things that I will remember most. Thank you Mrs Hickman.

Ms. Hickman was a tough-minded science teacher dedicated to doing an excellent job. She had an uncanny ability to know when any of her students were up to "no good", goofing off, or not focused on what she was trying to teach. She is a legend at CCDS and will be greatly missed

Mrs. Hickman pushed us to push ourselves, both academically and personally. Because she expected this, we not only learned to respect her, but to respect ourselves and those around us. She is a teacher whom I will never forget.

It is teachers like Dolly Hickman that make Country Day such a special place. She was one of the all time greats, and will be missed by the students and colleagues whose lives she touched. Rest in Ms. Hickman.

I was so scared of Ms. Hickman but she was a genuine lady and a great teacher. And when she gave us 4 1/2 reasons for something... So sorry for her loss.

Used to be scared to death of het until I got to know and love her. I vividly remember her going off on the girls that were eating rice cakes for lunch as an effort to lose weight. Her solution = exercise more. That along with the long-running "you've got 5 minutes left....not 4 1/2 but five" giggles all around

Dolly was the epitome of an outstanding educator. She cared for her students not only in the classroom but well beyond. She changed the lives of so many children over her career.
I am so fortunate to call her my friend, mentor and colleague. Thank you, Dolly.

Mrs. Hickman was a dedicated teacher who definitely made sure all of her students learned while they were in her classroom. I learned more in her science class than any other science class since. Mrs. Hickman made everyone aware of the environment and nature long before it was trendy. Her love of animals was important and I can still see her playing with her Labrador after school let out in the teacher's parking lot.

Teaching with Dolly at Charlotte Country Day was a very rewarding experience for me as a fellow educator. Dolly always expected her students to be their personal best, and as a result she helped young people, as well as her fellow teachers, be better than they thought they could be. She was dedicated to helping people and animals be better.

I was privileged to have Mrs. Hickman as my teacher at Sedgefield Jr. High in the seventh grade. She was an excellent teacher and fine lady. I will always remember her fondly. Condolences to her family

Mrs. Hickman was my science teacher in 1958. I was a "troubled" child, dealing with a new stepfather, and she tried her best to "save" me. She once took me home to go hunting with her son, a trip that I still remember. She allowed me to join a Country Day excursion to search for fossils in Mississippi, where I met the girl who gave me my first kiss. I was never good at school, but my life worked out pretty well.
Know that she made a difference in my life, and probably a great many others. Thank you for sharing her life with me.
