F. Roberts Obituary

HILLSBOROUGH -- F. Reid Roberts, born September 2, 1914, passed away on October 27, 2002 at UNC Hospital. "Reid" Roberts will be remembered for his dedication to his family, church and community. He was an active member of his community and a life-long member of the New Sharon Methodist Church whose present-day sanctuary he was instrumental in building.
He is loved and remembered by his wife of 40 years, Juliette Rattelade Roberts. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mildred Walker Roberts on March 4, 1960. His children are Catherine R. Roberts of Charlotte, NC, Nancy R. Holmes of Greensboro, NC, Larry R. Roberts of Paradise Valley, AZ, Thomas E. Roberts of Villa Rica, GA, Steve W. Roberts of Hillsborough, NC, and Sandra R. Gray of Hillsborough, NC.
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Reid Roberts was a life long farmer and visionary in the way he managed his farm. He helped organize the St. Mary's Grange and served at local and state levels. He gave generously to others of his time and talents. He left this life in the same way that he lived his life, with integrity, courage and strength of character.
The family request donations be given to New Sharon Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
Visiting with the family will be on Tuesday, 7 to 9 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, Hillsborough. Funeral services will be conducted at New Sharon Methodist Church on Wednesday, September 30 at 11 a.m.
Walker's Funeral Home is serving the family.
