Fred Lightsey Lancaster
December 2, 1929 - March 1, 2021
Charlotte, North Carolina - Fred Lightsey Lancaster went to join his Maker on March 1, 2021. He was born in Fairfax, SC and raised in Port Royal SC. He earned Mechanical and Civil Engineering degrees from Clemson University and The Citadel. He served with the army's 10th Engineer Combat Battalion in Korea. He enjoyed a 30-year career with Crowder Construction Company. Fred was a member of Sharon UMC, served 15 years on a Habitat for Humanity framing crew, flew small airplanes, was an amateur photography, and enjoyed playing golf at Cedarwood Country Club. Fred is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sid Badger Lancaster; his four children: Rick Lancaster (Liz), Carrollton TX; Lynn McFarlane (Scott), Matthews; Leslie Lancaster, Gastonia, and Russ Lancaster (Melissa), Indian Trail; and by his five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Betty Ann Taylor, and a brother, Harry Lloyd Lancaster, Jr. A private family service will be held on Sunday, March 14 at 2pm at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, 3307 Rea Road, Charlotte which may be viewed at gspc.net.
