Fredrick Rushing

Fredrick Steven Rushing MONROE - Fredrick Steven Rushing died Friday, October 18, 2013, at Carillon Assisted Living in Monroe, NC after a lengthy illness. He was born in Mint Hill, NC on February 3, 1927 to Carl and Gertie Rushing. He resided in Lansing, MI and Indian Trail, NC after his marriage to Rosemary Emmons Rushing on December 15, 1946. Steve was a World War II veteran, stationed on the USS Charles Lawrence while in the Navy and stationed in Washington, DC while in the Army. He studied agriculture at Michigan State College before starting his own home-building business. Steve was a past Master Free Mason of the Walter French Lodge 557 in Lansing, Michigan. He was a founding member of St. David's Episcopal Church in Lansing. Steve was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt in northern Michigan and play golf. He owned a custom-home building business in Lansing, Michigan and also built custom homes in Cashiers and Mint Hill, NC. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Gertie; his brothers, JayLee, David and Clarence; and his sister Nadine. His wife, Rosemary, also precedes him in death. He is survived by his sisters Helen and Margaret and his brother Jerry. He is survived by his son David and wife Sharon of Cary, NC, and son Daniel and wife Mary of Indian Trail, NC. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Matthew, Stacey and husband Bryan, Janie and Jordan. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren; Aaron and Avery and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate Steve's life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11 AM at Saint Margaret's Episcopal Church, 8515 Rea Road, Waxhaw, NC. Family and friends are invited to a reception immediately following the service.
