Saturday on my way back to Taylorsville from Pageland, I stopped at the Boston Market on Independence Blvd for lunch in memory of Gail. When Gail worked in Mattthews and I was working at the Honda dealership on Independence most Wednesday we met there for lunch. Gail was a wonderful friend from the time she started working at the Charlotte Council on Alcoholism and I am going to miss our telephone visits. You all are in my prayers.

Gail was my college roommate and also the Maid of Honor at my wedding. I can't believe I will never hear her wonderful laughter again and we did laugh a lot at Winthrop College. I will never forget those PC football games, having Rose Ann Taylor for a hall mother and those dreaded fire drills, usually when you were in the shower. Her father, Dr Griggs actually delivered me when I was born, so we had a connection from the beginning. She never aged like the rest of us. Always looking beautiful and young with her olive skin and gorgeous eyes. Gail was a true lady and I am glad she was my friend. Theresa Sowell Mills, Indian Trail, NC

My parents and Gail's parents were the best of friends. They would go to The Game on Saturdays whether it was at Clemson or USC. They would take trips together and usually include their wild kids. One summer the two families were going to New York and then on to Connecticut to visit some of their relatives. We started out from Pageland and the two cars were separated before we got to Mt. Croghan. These were the days before cell phones so it was impossible to know where the other car was. We didn't have reservations anywhere when we left Pageland but our first destination was Virginia Beach to visit one of Pearl's relatives. I think we all got there on the second day. Of course we had to contend with blame being put on each and everyone of us for some ridiculous reason since no adult wanted to take responsibility for such a goofy start of a trip. In retrospect the trip was great. Gail was always happy no matter where she was. She was a delight to be around. I oftentimes think about how wonderful those "Mayberry" days were...and I miss the times and the people who have gone...but I'll always remember them all.

Gail was my sweetheart in first grade and always a friend even though I saw her only occasionally and not recently. If it were not so far away, I would be there today to honor her memory, celebrate her life and remember the sound of her giggle.
