It has taken years to be able to write this because it feels incredibly devastating. I knew Gary - refused to call him JR- when we went to basic training together and remained friends. Our paths kept missing each other but I remember hearing about him meeting his wife and hearing all about her and our firstborns being a few weeks apart. He was so excited when they settled on a name and he beat me to Zion as a middle name. We were kids figuring life out.
One thing that never changed was his love for his mother. I am truly sorry for your loss and devastated you have also lost Vonte. Hoping you’re all comforted by the time you got to spend together.

Fontaine and Gary Sr., We are absolutely heartbroken to see this news about JR. We are devastated. Words cannot begin to do justice to the loss of a first born child. We watched him grow up as a child being your next door neighbors in Newington Forest. May God comfort you in your grief. We are so, so sorry for your loss. And so sorry to hear of it so late in time. Tragic, just Tragic!

JR was my closest cousin in age. Though we did not get to spend much time together growing up, my fondest memories of him were those when we were together as kids. He was funny, kind, and always a joy to be around.
I think about JR often and how he touched the lives of so many. JR retaught me the importance of family and to make every effort to spend time with them and love them as much as possible. To this day, I carry JR's picture with me as a constant reminder.
Cousin Fontaine, Cousin Eva, Auntie Eva Mae, and the Lane Family, please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. I love you, I am praying for you, and I am here for you if you ever need me. Rest in Heavenly Peace JR!

I am in utter shock as I just found out that this wonderful human being who touched my heart in so many ways is no longer with us. JR was such a joy to be around and always brightened my day when I thought it couldn't be done. To the Lane family I am deeply saddened at the loss of this precious life and will keep your family in my prayers. I would give anything just to hear his infectious laugh and smile. He will be dearly missed.
