Georgia DeVita
Mrs. DeVita, 73 of Charlotte passed away Saturday, December 16, 2006 peaceably at home surrounded by her family. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ann Lehmann and grandson Ryan Michael O'Hare. Georgia is survived by her husband, Al; daughters, Diane O'Hare and husband John of Charlotte, Donna Miles and husband David and their two daughters Camille and Leah of Roanoke, VA, Debbie DeVita of Boone, NC, and Darlene DeVita of Boston, MA; and her brother Charles 'Chuck' Lehmann of Delray Beach, Florida. Georgia is also survived by extended family and friends who dearly loved her.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, December 19, at Harry and Bryant Company, 500 Providence Rd. Charlotte, 28207. Family will receive friends on Monday evening between 6pm and 8pm at Harry and Bryant Company. The service will be officiated by the Reverend Will Terry of Davidson, NC.
Georgia married her high school sweetheart, Al, shortly before he went into the Navy in 1952. In the early 1970s they came to North Carolina and started spending their weekends with their four daughters and friends at Lake Norman. Georgia and Al settled in Charlotte in 1974. They spent 54 beautiful years together. Georgia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed.
Her family would like to thank Heidi Thomas of "Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte" for the comfort given to Georgia. We would also like to thank Dr. Alan R. Thalinger, MD, his nurse Corinne and staff for their special care during her illness.

To Debbie, Donna, Darlene and Diane and Mr. DeVita.. I love all of you and am thinking of you every day. Chicken noodle soup for breakfast..a piece of bread for a snack... I'll never forget the great intercom system your Mom invented:DONNA!!! DIANE!!!! DEBBIE!!! DARLENE!!!!..and oh..the times at the Lake..didn't we all have fun.. our two families. Your Mom was a wonderful woman and a wonderful Mother and a very special friend to my Mom and Dad. I love you all and am thinking of you. Be patient with your Dad. He loves you too; he's just lost right now. GIve your worries to God; he will take care of all of you.

My parents have been friends with the DeVita's practically all my l ife. Through them I had the pleasure of knowing two of the loviliest soals I have ever met. Georgia volunteered at Presbyterian Hospital with the Volunteer Station; transporting and discharging patients and doing errands for the staff. What a joy it was to have her come here! We will miss Georgia and that lovely smile. Our sympathies to the family.
