March 3, 1940 - February 24, 2024

Charlotte, North Carolina - Gladys Grant Meek, 83, of Charlotte, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024. She was born on March 3, 1940, in Tapoco, NC, and was the daughter of Arthur and Myrtle Grant. She was a resident of Waltonwood Cotswold and more recently, Asbury Health at Aldersgate.

Gladys was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She attended Western Carolina University before moving to Charlotte, where she met and married her loving husband, Richard, of over 59 years. The highlight of her year was hosting her family for their annual sisters' weekend. Gladys loved working at the Children's Market, as well as the Southern Christmas and Spring shows for many years.

Her interests included reading, southern cooking, swimming, and traveling. Ocean Isle Beach was a favorite destination. She was a member of Calvary Church and later attended Central Church.

Gladys is survived by her daughter, Alison, and her husband Barry; grandchildren, Lane and Celeste Baker, Mallory and Davis Meek; great-grandson, David Richard Meek; and her sister, Nettie Calfee. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her son Rick, and her sisters Iva, O'Neal, and Edith. Her love will have a great impact on generations to come.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, March 2 at 1:00 PM at Central Church (Family Life Center), 5301 Sardis Road in Charlotte. Visitation will take place at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region.

Sorry to hear your mom is gone. She and your dad were longtime friends of my mom and dad, Joyce and Lacy Blue. My mom asked me to look up your mom today, when we saw the news. Both your parents were good people.
