You died a great credit to your nation, your family and your friends. I remember you well although you graduated GHS one year ahead of me. May your family feel the comfort to know you touched lives that even now continue to remember you and the character you held so high. God Bless you and the family you left behind. All The Family Of Glenn Cook

To assume such a high-risk challenge while fighting for the ideals of freedom and democracy halfway around the world, in an unpopular war, makes clear to all who remember these acts what rare heroic blood was shed by Glenn in Southeast Asia while carrying out his duties serving our country.
Flying slowly so close to enemy forces was by all known to be dangerous, and if the enemy showed any restraint from firing at forward controllers, it was never out of compassion, but only to avoid being detected.
Glenn had graduated and left Charlotte before I moved here in 1968, but we did overlap during our first "tour of duty" for a time at The Citadel. He was one barracks over then and two years ahead of me as I followed him through this same initial military indoctrination and also served a stint in the Air Force during those turbulent times.
May God rest his soul and bring comfort to his family while continuing, as surely must have been the case ever since autumn of '69, to embrace his noble spirit.

Bookmark for POW_MIA. I was so blessed to know him.

I happened to be watching the news when I saw the story about Glenn. Our families shared so much during that time of war and protest. I carried a bookmark for POW-MIA with Glenn's name on it. How I got it was so strange
About 23 years ago my family was attending a Native American drum ceremony on Monroe Rd at the old Fireman's Hall. Lots of crafts and things for sale. I saw a display of bookmarks, with POW_MIA on them. They were almost out, and you could not see the name of the person on the bookmark you were getting. They were all facedown with POW-MIA on the back. I picked one to purchase, and turned it over to see the name it was Glenn R Cook. I know it has been so difficult for you and you parents. He was never forgotten and we are forever grateful. God bless you all.

TO Glenn's family...the fighter pilots got the glory, but it was guys like Glenn who really flew the dangerous missions every time they went out. My best friend was a spotter and his stories were harrowing. Peace to Glenn and my condolences to you all.
