I have known Inge for a long time, while working at Southern Overseas International Shipping Co. She was with the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce. She worked with International business customers. She also knows my father Emil Unger, who owned a International Travel AGency. He was born in Germany but also grew up in the Netherlands/Holland. I was living with my parents, until I got married to a man,
who works for IBM International Company. Inge will be always remembered, and loved! It was nice to work with Inge Hagenbart.

Dear Hegenbart Family:

I read about Ms. Heganbart in the paper and immediately recalled our all too brief encounter that left a quite a lasting impression on me. As I read the condolences and happy memories those others, who were obviously very close to her and/or the family, have shared - it occurred to me that you may all appreciate knowing how she helped shape a typical college kid’s future during a chance encounter.

I was a college student double majoring in Economics & Banking. I was enrolled in an advanced class mostly comprised of grad students that met once a week in the evenings. It was the kind of class you hope to be in (mostly free thinking and discussion based around things taking place in the financial world). We were frequently surprised with powerful speakers like John Allison, Bud Baker and of course Ingeborg Hegenbart. They would all give brief bios and some thoughts on current events, but the real knowledge transfers came when they would step away from the podium and entertain our questions.

In spite of the fact that these visits were fairly common - It was specifically during her discussion that I began to realize the unique times the financial industry was in and more importantly the tremendous role NC banks were poised to play. She had such a unique view of the world and had seen it form most every angle! It was at that point I decided to refocus from plans to work on Wall Street to learning all I could about commercial banking. I have since worked for First Union, Wachovia and Bank of America as well as in the Financial Services practice of a Big 4 consulting firm. I have been a part of many historical changes in banking and never forget how I ended up there.

Ms. Hegenbart offered many of us business cards and I still have it. She encouraged us to drop her notes, but sadly I never did. I hope she sees this and recognizes the impact she had on many young minds… And I hope the family gets a glimpse into a part of her life you didn’t see everyday.

Alex and Family, I had a lovely telephone visit with Inge some months ago. I treasure that memory, as well as all the wonderful times John and I had with you. You were good friends to both of us in thick and thin- so many lovely times in your home, and rich memories of her famous (and infamous!) strudel. I add my own special reflection: I am surviving life without John, but he is in God's care and keeping and blessed memory for me. My prayer for you is that you will be sustained with this kind of heavenly food. I wish that I could come to Charlotte tomarrow, but I shall be with you in spirit and prayer. Peace and Love, Anna Haley

Dear Alex,

Ingeborge has been an inspiration to me since the first time I met her at CPCC. She was always ready to share her knowledge and enthusiam with anyone who asked. I regret that I will miss her service. I am in Sao Paulo now largely as a result of her influence.

She will live forever in the hearts and actions of those she has impacted.

Dear Alex and Family,

Thanks for sharing Inge with all of us. She will be sorely missed by those of us who got to know her on a personal basis. While her life was committed to her family and globalization, she has now expanded beyond earth's business arena and is globalizing heaven. Rejoice in her present happiness.

The world has lost a lovely person. I came to know Ingeborg when we both worked for Southtrust Bank. I
enjoyed her sense of humor. I extend
my sympathy to her family.
