My wonderful and funny friend Jack McElrath and I met back in 2009 when I moved into an apartment complex right next to his. We walked together each and every evening and my dog Lucie became his as well. I knew his life story and was proud to know him both as an accomplished man and selfless veteran. Even after I left Jacksonville for Bradenton, Florida we remained good friends. Jack loved to travel to Las Vegas so we began to visit at the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa Florida whenever he felt well enough to make the trip from Jacksonville. We always had a great day at the slot machines and catching up with our lives. Jack was a sensitive soul and a loyal friend. He loved his bride Linda dearly. I will miss him very very much. Although he was often ill, it never stopped him from living his life. What a great example for all of us.

McElrath was one of a kind. I had the pleasure of working with him at J A Jones. I will treasure the fond memories and will miss his Christmas cards. My condolences to his family.
