James Thompson Bladon
July 19, 1946 - August 6, 2021
Charlotte, North Carolina - James Thompson Bladon, husband of Janice Vaughan Bladon, passed away on August 6, 2021 in Charlotte, NC. Jim was born in Montreal, Canada on July 19, 1946 to Horace Buckley Bladon and Lillian Thompson Bladon.
Jim's family moved to Greenville, SC in 1958 where he graduated from Greenville High School in 1964. Jim then graduated from The Citadel (G Company) in 1968 with a B.S degree in Business Administration.
After serving in the US Army as Captain of Tank Company and Basic Training Company, he returned to Greenville as Vice President over Branch and Retail Banking for First Piedmont B&T. He later joined Coldwell Banker Commercial Real Estate moving him to Charlotte, NC where he was responsible for Industrial Leasing and Sales for the Charlotte Market.
Following Coldwell Banker, Jim became a partner with Paragon Group where he led the Office and Industrial development for the Mid-Atlantic Region. Later in his career, Jim joined Builder Services Inc. managing sales and marketing in Charlotte for John Wieland Homes.
Jim excelled in sports especially tennis, baseball, and golf while spending time as often as he could fishing and vacationing at the beach. Jim was well loved through the friendships he made throughout his lifetime. He was a kind and thoughtful person who spoke the truth and believed in family traditions to carry forward for generations to come.
Jim is survived by his wife, and children, Catherine (Hampton Culler IV), Richard, and Eric; three grandchildren, Hampton V, Mary Grace, and Elizabeth Culler; and sister, Mary Lynne Hardaway (John III); and many loved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 1412 Providence Rd., Charlotte, NC on Saturday, August 14, at 1pm. The family will greet guests afterwards in the memorial garden at the church. Masks are required.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the organization of your choice: American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org), American Heart Association (www.heart.org), or National Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.org).
