James Clyde Kiser, Jr.
'Jim'
CONCORD -- Mr. Kiser, 56, of 1200 Jim Kiser Road, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 5, 2004, and is today singing with the angels. He was born on April 19, 1948, to the late James Clyde Kiser, Sr. and Novella Honeycutt Kiser. He was Valedictorian of his 1966 Bethel High School graduating class. He then went on to graduate from N.C. State University in 1970 with a degree in Civil Engineering.
He was employed by the United State Postal Service as a rural mail carrier in the downtown Concord office for 29 years. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, where he was Sunday School Superintendent, Assistant Choir Director, and guitarist. Two of his greatest loves were his family and his music.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Cathy; two sons, Dwayne and Jimmy and wife, Ronda; and seven grandchildren, Amber, Christopher, Danielle, David, Dillon, Jessica and Josh. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Nora Edge; sister-in-law, Helen Furlin; sister-in-law and husband, Ann and Gary Hall, all of Concord; brothers-in-law and wives, Carrol and Joan Edge of Trinity, NC, and Tom and Deanna Edge of Eugene, OR.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be conducted at Pine Grove Baptist Church at 4:00 PM on Monday, March 8, with the Reverend Ray Rippy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Fink. Harold Hahn, Bruce Jones, Randy Kiser, Everett Lambert and Brad Troutman. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Sunday, March 7, from 6-8 PM and will be at the home at other times.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Kiser's memory to Pine Grove Baptist Church, 100 Pine Grove Church Road, Concord, NC 28025.
Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is assisting the family.
