Matthews, North Carolina - James Washington Simpson of Hemby Bridge"Dub", age 89, passed away Sept. 7th. He was born April 6, 1932 in Union County to parents Willie and Delphia Deese Simpson; both preceded him in death. His graveside services were held at First Baptist Church of Indian Trail Cemetery on Friday. JW enjoyed livestock auctions and buying and selling cows and tending to his farm. He was a Godly man and a charter member of First Baptist Church Indian Trail. JW will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Nancy Pressley Simpson; children, Jim (Vivian), Terry (Lisa), Ronda Mullis (Rodney); grandchildren; Tracy Strawn (Josh), Kenneth Simpson (Mandy), Heather Kindley (Bryan), Laura Hill (Travis), Brian Simpson, Derrick Simpson, Ashley Simpson, Hannah Simpson and Ryan Blackwelder (Nicole), 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Libby Williams (Curtis), Darrell Simpson (Mary), Deanie Carter, Bruce Simpson (Linda), Sandy Baucom, Van Simpson and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, JW was preceded in death by siblings Ira Simpson (Rachel), Marie Walters (Bill), Janie Baucom (Bill), Monty Mills and Philip Simpson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Indian Trail.

My prayers are going out to all of you to the family and especially to Nancy at this time of grief. He is up there with both of my beloved parents we will see each again on heavenly bright shores. Wish I could come down but it almost a 2 hour there and a 2 hour back so I am sending the family members my prayers at this time. Love you guys always
