Jessie Miller Obituary

Jessie Miller, 63, passed away surrounded by her loving family in Charlotte, NC, on February 23, 2019.

Jessie is survived by her husband of 42 years Robert Miller, daughter Christy Crabtree (John), daughter Sara Harding (Chris), sister Mary Troxler (Jerry), and brother Ray Ridenhour (Jeanette).

Jessie was born on August 23, 1955, in Burlington, NC, to Lester and Pennie Ridenhour. She graduated from Appalachian State University in 1976, where she met and fell in love with Robert. Shortly after, they moved to Charlotte and began their careers as devoted teachers. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters.

Jessie and Robert laughed at the same jokes, enjoyed sharing a good meal, and were inseparable in countless ways. Jessie loved sitting under the umbrella at the beach, spending time with her family and friends, and getting the best deal in town. She was an amazing cook, known to make all of the family favorites at family gatherings and Holidays. Jessie took joy in putting her family's needs before her own, never missing out on an activity that her daughters participated in.

The family would like to express gratitude to all of the staff at Novant Health Cancer Specialists (Matthews), Novant Health Presbyterian Center, and Novant Health Matthews Medical Center. We would especially like to thank our Cancer Care Navigator, Pam Gwaltney, for the love, support, and resources provided during this difficult time.

A Visitation from 10:00-11:00 and a Memorial Service at 11:00 will be officiated by Reverend Jerry Woolery at Cornerstone Baptist Church on Thursday, February 28, 2019. All guests are invited to a luncheon hosted by the family from Rockstore BBQ (Mint Hill) immediately following the service in the Family Life Center at Cornerstone.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Colon Cancer Coalition to support Rear in Gear (Charlotte) at donate.coloncancercoalition.org/tributes-and-memorials/JessieMiller.

Where do I begin....first of all I have to say to Robert, Christy, John, Sara, and Chris that I am so very sorry and my heart hurts for each one of you. Jessie was my dear friend and I will miss her voice and our several times a week phone calls. To say she is my Hero is an understatement! She fought the cancer fight with dignity with Robert right by her side and she felt so bad for all he had to go through with her. He was the love of her life and her girls were the apples of her eye. She was so proud of them and their accomplishment. Her and I talked about everything in our 18 year friendship and she taught me everything I know about finding deals. We could be on the phone for hours and keep each other laughing and once in a while Robert would even chime in. Those memories are precious to me. She was the one that I cried to when my husband passed away and told her all of my feelings and she was my biggest supporter saying that I was going to make it and keep my home and finances together. Even when I would shed a tear a few years after Paul passed, she would tell me not to apologize because that was normal and I was doing a great job! She could always say something to cheer me up and I could always make her laugh! Jessie and I just got each other. Now I have to figure out how to go on without her in my life and it makes me cry. We were definitely buddies and I know we will a see her again one day! Her smile and laughter will always be in my heart! I love you Jessie and keep watch over us all! I'm here for you Robert, Christie, and Sara if you need a shoulder to cry on because I've been where you are and I love you all!
All of my love my sweet friend,
Tina
