John Avallone Obituary

John Allan Avallone, Sr. "Jackie" HUNTERSVILLE - Mr. Avallone, age 74, of Huntersville, N.C. entered his eternal home in heaven on April 30, 2012. John was born on September 4th, 1937 in Provincetown, MA and was raised there by his loving mother Elizabeth and stepfather Daniel Williams. He was educated in Provincetown schools and entered the U.S. Air force in 1954, serving as a Flight Control Fabricator in strategic air command, stationed at Plattsburg AFB in NY. After leaving the Air force he married Donna Pereira on September 7, 1959. They moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL where he obtained a commercial pilot's license from Burnside Ott Flight School. He worked as a journeyman plumber for Local 719 in Ft. Lauderdale and as an Oil Burner Technician, retiring in 1999. He was very active, enjoying competitive motorcycle racing, speed roller skating, and cycling. He remained an avid cyclist throughout his entire life, even taking a thirty mile bike ride just a week ago. He participated in cycling both as a competitive racer and in charity events with his three sons. Family members include his wife, Donna Pereira Avallone; three sons, John Avallone Jr., and his wife Debra of Louisville, KY; Glen Avallone and his wife Leslie of Mooresville, NC; Brett Avallone and his wife Carol of Louisville, KY; two daughters, Cindy Diaz and her husband Juan of Louisville, KY; Heidi Rupani of Hyannis, MA; fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three brothers: Raliegh Avallone of Newton, MA; Francis Silva and his wife Carol of Truro, and Robert Silva of Provincetown, MA. Friends may offer condolences to the family at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC on Monday, May 7th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. A Christian service will follow in the chapel.
