John Carmen Creta MATTHEWS - John Carmen Creta, 69, of Matthews, N.C., quietly passed from his earthly life to his eternal home, with his loving family by his side, on Wednesday, June 28th, 2017, after courageously fighting lymphoma and other health issues for several years. John, Giovanni Carmenucci Creta, was born in Cusano Mutri in the Province of Benevento, Italy, and moved to the United States as a young adult and later gained his citizenship. He lived in Connecticut for many years before moving south to North Carolina. He was a singer, an artist, loved playing baseball and soccer, adored body building, and all forms of Martial Arts. John was ranked as a Third Degree Black Belt and at one point held the title of Mr. Connecticut. Among his many passions and talents, he was a master carpenter and owned and operated RRR Construction Company for many years. But most importantly, John was a devoted, giving, warm and loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather and filled the lives of friends and family with such amazing joy, laughter and endless love. He was preceded in death by his parents, Altieri and Vittoria Maria Iammartino Creta; four brothers, Giovanni, Rolondo, Alberto, and Luciano Creta; and one sister, Marie Digoia. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Cynthia Broadway Creta; his children, Jaime and Jared Creta; his step-children, Brad Farrington and his wife, Maggie, and Hayley Anderson and her husband, Andrew; his four beloved grandchildren, Macyn Farrington (10), Polly Weaver (9), Nate Farrington (8), and Levi Anderson (22 mo.); his sisters, Antoinetta Melchionna and her husband, Pino, Fernanda Arduini, Maria Pina Morytko and her husband, Pete, Silvana Creta; and brother, Franco Creta. A Celebration of Life Service for John Carmen Creta will be held at 3:00 on July 7th, 2017, in the Prayer Chapel at Matthews United Methodist Church, where he was a member, located at 801 South Trade Street, Matthews, NC 28105.
