John Staples Obituary

John William Staples
PAGELAND -- Mr. Staples, 80, died January 31, 2011.
Funeral service is 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Pageland. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Sutton-Baumgartner Funeral Home.
He was the son of the late Pal Staples and Coreene Mullinex McWhorter. Mr. Staples served in the U.S. Marines in WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War. He was also a member of the VFW, American Legion and DVA. He delivered the Charlotte Observer for many years. Mr. Staples was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pageland.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years Rachel Staples of the home; sons, John William Staples Jr. (Ellen) of Matthews, NC, Kenny Miles of Pageland, SC; daughters, Pat Hines (Rickey) of Monroe, NC, Pam Staples of Wilmington, NC; mother of his children, Audrey L. Lee of Wilmington, NC; brother, Bill McWhorter (Sandy) of Lawrenceville, GA; brother-in-law, Levy Miles (Joyce) of Pageland, SC; sister-in-law, Mary Sullivan of Rock Hill, SC; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church, Elevator Fund, PO Box 126, Pageland, SC 29728 or St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
