Joseph Drake Obituary

Dr. Joseph T. Drake II, 91, of Davidson, NC, husband of Carmela R. Drake, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003. Born in Natchez, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Henry W.M. and Mildred Myers Drake.
During WWII, he served in the European and North Africa Theatres as a Major in the US Army Infantry. He was a retired Professor of Sociology at Davidson College, Davidson, NC.
Dr. Drake was a member of Davidson College Presbyterian Church where he served faithfully as elder and deacon for many years.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Joseph S. Drake of New York City, NY and Benjamin D. and wife Chalma C. Drake of Pickens, SC; granddaughters, Ashley Drake Cummings and husband Scott, and Tara M. Drake, all of Pickens, SC; three great grandchildren, Joshua Drake, Daniel Lee and Anna Grace Cummings; and brother, W.M. Drake of Lafayette, LA.
Graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2003 at Mimosa Cemetery in Davidson, NC.
Raymer Funeral Home of Huntersville, NC, is serving the Drake family.
