BELMONT -- Mr. Mitchell, age 79, of 106 Ninth Street, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2004 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte. He was a native of Rutherford County, NC and the son of the late Audie F. 'A.F.' and Margaret Greenway Mitchell. He was a member of Alexander Memorial Baptist Church in Belmont and a 1954 graduate of Clemson University.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by son, Terry W. Mitchell and his wife Judi of St. Augustine, FL; daughter, Ann Keathley of Belmont; son, Joseph 'Joey' Mitchell, Jr. and his wife Wanda of Gastonia; grandchildren, Terry Mitchell, Jr., Kimberle Plybon and husband Scott, Erin Mitchell, Lauren Mitchell, Kristine Keathley, Angela Keathley, Alvina Bryant and husband David, Matt Hall and Joseph T. Mitchell, III; great grandchildren, Nathan and Ransom Plybon, Whitney Mitchell, Dylan and River Bryant and Madison Mitchell; and sisters, Isabelle Braddy of Rock Hill, SC and Pearle Hardin of Caroleen, NC.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Mitchell is preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen 'Teenie' Phillips Mitchell; 2 brothers, Worth and Clyde; and 1 sister, Myrtle.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 24 at 2 p.m. at Alexander Memorial Baptist Church, Belmont. Reverend Jerry Pennington will be officiating. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday, January 23rd from 6 to 8 p.m. at Carothers Funeral Home, Belmont.
