Kenneth Sharp Obituary

Kenneth C. Sharp

February 21, 1954 - September 12, 2025

Charlotte, North Carolina - Kenneth Claude Sharp, aged 71, peacefully passed away on September 12, 2025. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 51 years, Gail Beam Sharp; his daughter, Christine; and his son, Nicholas. Ken took great pride in his grandchildren: Sean (23), Cameron (20), and Avery (18), children of Brian and Christy Masch, as well as his grandson Mason (14), son of Nick and Aeron Sharp. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Ami Forte.

Born on February 21, 1954, in Madison, N.C., Ken was the son of Claude and Mary Sharpe. He graduated from Madison-Mayodan High School in 1972 and went on to earn a degree in accounting from Wake Forest University, where he met the love of his life, Gail. They married in 1974, embarking on a journey filled with love and partnership.

Ken began his professional career as a CPA with Arthur Andersen in New York, later transferring to Raleigh and ultimately settling in Charlotte. He thrived as a partner, leading the development of their healthcare practice. In 2002, he transitioned to Grant Thornton, where he led the Charlotte office for several years before becoming the Global Leader of Assurance Services. This role allowed him to travel extensively, a passion he shared with Gail as they explored the world together.

Upon retiring in 2016, Ken embraced a more leisurely lifestyle, dedicating his time to golf, attending his grandchildren's activities, and enjoying peaceful moments at their lake house. As a founding member of Providence Country Club, he cherished 36 years at the club, and in recent times, he seldom missed his Tuesday and Thursday morning tee times with his senior men's group.

Throughout his life, Ken was actively involved in various organizations, with Junior Achievement and Wake Forest University holding special places in his heart.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Junior Achievement of Central Carolina or The Ken and Gail Sharp Scholarship Fund at Wake Forest University.

A celebration of Ken's life will take place on Saturday, September 20th, at 10 a.m., at Weddington Methodist Church, located at 13901 Providence Rd., Weddington, N.C. 28104. Condolences may be left for the family at www.McEwenPinevilleChapel.com.
