Lisa Ruehle Obituary

Lisa Carraway Ruehle

July 9, 1966 - October 25, 2024

Charlotte, North Carolina - Lisa Carraway Ruehle went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 25, 2024 after a 6+ year battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Greenville, NC on July 9, 1966.

She grew up in Greenville with her step-great grandmother, Louise Fornes, who loved her like her own daughter and graduated High School at J.H. Rose. In her youth she attended Greenville First Pentecostal Holiness church where she was also raised by several church moms. Her love for Jesus was expressed in music all throughout her life. She played the flute, sang in the youth choir, the Emmanual College singers and the Brooklyn Tabernacle and Central Church choirs. She also shared her love of Christ through music by directing several kid's musicals at church. Her love for family and friends was expressed through baking lots of sweet treats, finding that special gift and coordinating events and get-togethers. She loved her family & church family, traveling, decorating, going to the beach and the many fur babies she had over the years.

Her primary career began in human resources at US Airways Express focused on the relatively new DOT rules and regulations of drug and alcohol testing. She then became a founding employee of JetBlue Airways setting up their drug and alcohol testing program and managing it for over 10 years. Her compliance and administrative skills made the JetBlue program a model that the FAA referred to other airlines. As a result, she went on to work with Interactive Medical as their Director of Compliance, became a board member of the Drug & Alcohol Testing Industry's (DATIA) board and eventually created her own consulting business and traveled the country assisting DOT regulated companies in Drug & Alcohol testing compliance.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Dirck of 34 years, two daughters Haley Jamison (Travis) and Hannah Ruehle, granddaughter Norah Jamison, brother Josh Carraway and nephew Chase Carraway. She was preceded in death by her mother Evelyn Louise Reuss and father Benny Ward Carraway.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 8th at Central Church, 5301 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC 28270.

Gifts can be given in memorial to Central Church, www.centralnc.org, or the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.

To Lisa´s Friends and Loved ones, I am so very sorry. I can only imagine the magnitude of how great this loss is for you. Lisa and I attended Emmanuel College together. she was funny, smart and such a bright light to all of us that knew her. We sang together with Emmanuel Singers and shared many classes together. Sadly we lost touch a few years ago, but I will never forget what a special person she was. She was always so proud of her family and talked of you so fondly. Heaven has certainly gained a sweet angel with Lisa joining all of loved ones there. My family will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.

Our sweet Lisa. I´ve known her since she was 6 years old. Thankful that her grandmother made sure she was in Sunday School and Church and at an early age Lisa accepted Jesus as her Savior. Some things in life we just don´t understand and I´ve struggled with why someone with such a difficult childhood yet chose to live for Jesus and be such a bright light, then had this horrible disease at such an early age. But today she knows all the joys of Heaven. Thoughts and prayers to Dierk and her girls as they adjust to life without her. Lisa attended Saint Paul all of her childhood through high school and was a part of my teenage class. She and Billie Ward, Tina Buck Johnston and Sharon Richardson (her best friends) all helped serve at my wedding reception.
